Riduan Tomkins, a British-born artist celebrated for his unique and lyrical approach to painting, established a notable international reputation that resonated well beyond his homeland. His academic journey commenced at Wimbledon School of Art, culminating at the prestigious Royal College of Art in London. Tomkins' teaching career spanned several esteemed institutions in both England and Canada, shaping the artistic journeys of numerous students.

Between 1985 and 1995, Tomkins significantly impacted the New Zealand art scene as a senior lecturer in painting at the University of Canterbury.
